A Likeable Woman

In Cobb’s latest (after The Hunting Wives) Kira Foster hasn’t looked back since leaving her wealthy East Texas hometown 20 years ago. The sudden death of her mother Sadie, purportedly a suicide, sent her into a tailspin as a teen, and she’s never quite recovered—not least because she’s sure there’s more to her mother’s death than anyone will admit. Now a former friend has invited her back for a marriage renewal celebration, and though Kira’s first impulse is to turn the invite down, a message from her grandmother changes her mind. Granny Foster has always held the line on Sadie’s death, insisting Kira is wrong to be suspicious. But now she’s saying that she has something from Sadie that Kira should see, something that will show that Kira may be right. As soon as she arrives, it’s clear that someone is determined to keep Kira from delving into the events of the past. But this time she’s not leaving without getting some answers.
