Editors Kuglitsch and Watkins, both librarians at the University of Colorado, Boulder have compiled a set of case studies to assist librarians in preparing instructional content for student creators, since the information needs of those in creative disciplines are often different than those pursuing traditional scholarly research. The volume addresses a range of creative fields, including creative writing, theater, fine art, and engineering. Many contributors describe programs and instruction sessions that they conducted at their own institutions. They provide program overviews, occasionally suggesting topics and activities for others to include. Some stress the importance of supplying practical tasks that enable students to learn by doing. Additionally, many chapters offer models for faculty collaboration and stress the importance of research methodology instruction for students in creative disciplines. Some chapters introduce materials such as LibGuides and other instructional course materials and describe the development process. Other chapters describe the landscape of information resources in specific creative disciplines. Most chapters connect their experiences back to the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.
