Love is the last thing on Eden's mind as she and her five-year-old son flee danger and are stranded by a snowstorm in Summer Harbor, ME. There she finds work as a caretaker for Beau Callahan's aunt. Although Beau is appealing, Eden fears that her past is about to catch up with her and that she will be powerless once again.
VERDICT Hunter ("Chapel Spring" romances) inaugurates a new series with a story fraught with unease, introducing protagonists whose human flaws add authenticity. At times the tone is foreboding, but Eden comes to realize that God gives us strength to overcome fear and live the life He has meant for us. Hunter's fans will want this one.
