Daniel lives a privileged life as a lord, traveling the world in search of new and exciting art to bring back to England. While walking in the park in London, he happens upon a solitary artist creating exquisite paintings with simple ink and paper, but she flees when he approaches. Li-Na lives for the moments she can escape her life at notorious gambling hall The Lyon’s Den, where she’s known as the Abacus Woman for her skill with numbers. When her employer sends her to the country to straighten out a lord’s bookkeeping, she doesn’t realize it’s the same man who approached her in the park until it’s too late to go back. Lee (
Into the Lyon’s Den) dives deeper into Li-Na’s story.
VERDICT Though each book in the “The Lyon’s Den Connected World” series stands alone, this 20th installment, which follows Tamed by the Lyon, by Chasity Bowlin, will be best enjoyed by readers of the previous titles. Recommended for libraries where Lee is popular or this series circulates well.
