David Blackwood, better known as Bishop among his friends or Blackguard Blackwood according to the latest gossip sheets, has been secretly helping unhappy wives escape their marriages. When a new maid begins working in his home, he believes she may be more than she seems. The maid is actually Marguerite “Daisy” Townsend, who has an enterprising business as a private investigator and has been hired to find proof of a wife’s infidelity, which has brought her into the home of renowned rake Blackwood. Yet something seems to be amiss with his evening liaisons. Bishop and Daisy find that as they draw closer to the truth about each other, they cannot resist the attraction between them. When Bishop is entangled in murder charges due to his secret, Daisy must find a way to clear his name and convince him that what they have between them is worth more than the way he has chosen to avenge his mother, who suffered from an abusive relationship.
