The stress of these concerns, coupled with life on a battleship full of seamen, ensures the trip is an adventure for all—especially when secrets are revealed that could ruin reputations and the hint of forbidden romance blossoms on board.
VERDICT Moyes's (Me Before You; The Girl You Left Behind; One Plus One) engrossing and well-written novel with romantic content is light but powerful. Through emotive language and suspense, the author effectively thrusts readers into the brides' world of anxiety, urgency, hope, and excitement. Highly recommended for historical romance readers.
