Eden’s final Dread Penny Society novel (following The Bachelor and the Bride) thrills with Fitz and Móirín racing to solve the Tempest’s deadly hide-and-seek games, while their witty and playful banter keeps their love story as spirited as the characters themselves. Highly recommended, but read the series in order.
With lots of danger and intrigue, Eden’s latest will keep readers on the edge of their seats, but constant threats tend to dim the fragile romance between Hawk and Liesl. This historical romance is a stand-alone novel, but fans of Eden’s The Sheriffs of Savage Wells will be happy to see so many familiar faces return to action here.
While the early plotting and characterizations are a bit rocky in this sweet, slow-burning romance, fans of Eden’s “The Jonquil Brothers” series will be delighted to see familiar characters from the author’s other books return throughout this series kick-off.
Eden’s fourth gripping Victorian “Dread Penny Society” romance (following The Merchant and the Rogue) centers on a heroine’s unrequited love with lots of twists and turns before the hero recognizes his true feelings. The series is best read in sequence, as each novel builds on prior installments.
Eden’s latest entry in the “Victorian” series (after Ashes on the Moor) is a joy to read, filled with adventure, suspense, two characters longing for love but protective of their secrets. Two original penny dreadfuls interspersed throughout make this story even more impressive.
The dialog and character development in Eden's (The Sheriffs of Savage Wells) latest are very well done; readers will particularly enjoy the banter between Evangeline and Dermot and will be eager know what happens next to the Smeatley townsfolk and our protagonists.
Eden's heartwarming romance shows how having faith in oneself and in God can lighten burdens and heal hearts. Recommend for fans of historical or Western romance and those who have longed to find a place that finally feels like home.
