While listeners may be glad they don’t live in Blue Deer, they will surely enjoy this twisty, precisely engineered tale.

In this exquisitely nuanced, beautifully constructed novel, Harrison (“Jules Clement” mystery series) draws the reader into young Polly’s filtered understanding of her world, rich with happily married couples, vs. the uncertain reality of the adult Polly, coping with memory loss while slowly untangling shocking family secrets. A magnificent gem.

Readers prizing action above all may appreciate this Western saga by the daughter of author Jim Harrison (who also pens the "Blue Deer" mysteries), but those bothered by loose ends and minimal character development will be disappointed
