This story of a life and death fight against an antibiotic-resistant superbug is pertinent to every person on the planet and written to be accessible to a general audience. Both fiction and nonfiction fans will relish this story.
Recommended to listeners with an interest in contemporary working conditions and those who enjoyed Barbara Ehrenreich's Nickel and Dimed. ["An illuminating read that should inspire outrage, hope, and change": LJ 12/18 review of the Hachette hc.]
The balance of terror and hope in this first novel is breathtaking. Listeners will anxiously await another novel from Steadman, and will hope the author will choose to narrate future works as well. Ghosts and nightmares, blood and guts, are all part of this suspense story. Although half of the story is told through the eyes of an adolescent, it is truly for mature audiences. This engaging work will be in demand. ["Taut plotting, smooth writing, and a compelling premise will satisfy fans of Jo NesbØ, Camilla Läckberg, and Tana French": LJ 11/15/17 review of the Crown hc.]
