The characters aren’t very likable, and the plot drags out way too long. Content warning for mentions of rape and violence. Recommended only for Ashley’s fans and where her other books circulate well.
Though the meaty subplot involving rogue operatives and an insatiable need for vengeance can be confusing, this is a classic tale of wounded souls finding healing in each other, with a super kinky twist.
Though the slightly lengthy prose occasionally complicates the raunchy action, overall, this latest from Ashley (Motorcycle Man) is an enjoyable title for femdom fans.
In this second title in the "Chaos" series (after Own the Wind), Ashley spends more than a third of the book proving to the reader that Lanie and Hop are in a physical relationship, with lots of vulgarity and details of hot sex that make these protagonists seem a bit boring. But persistence pays off. For the remainder of the book, Ashley does a good job of developing these characters and creating a solid plot. Those who enjoy urban fiction and good, sizzling romance will find this book appealing.
