Readers needn’t be familiar with the series to appreciate this fast-paced mystery that pits betrayal, anger, and hate against hope and longing as it examines the lasting effect of a community used and abandoned after making a fortune for the titans of the copper mining industry. Will appeal to fans of Bryan Gruley, Lisa Sandlin, and Tim Johnston.
There is a lot going on in this book with the alternating storylines of the Picketts and Nate, but Box keeps everything flowing and easy to understand. Purchase where the series is popular.
This complex portrait of how entertainment stories and personalities permeate the airwaves to become a part of people’s genuine lives, from those watching at home to those involved in the show’s creation, is thought provoking and poignant yet honest in its humanity. [Previewed in Douglas Rednour’s “Picture This,” LJ 6/20.]
Box gives a scathing look at the perverted nature of a backwoods isolationist family, at the same time providing a strong female protagonist. This will appeal to readers who enjoy works by Craig Johnson, Paul Doiron, Brian Panowich, and Nevada Barr. [See Prepub Alert, 2/4/19.]

This unabashedly pot-positive polemic is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in the subject and its history, and a good—albeit optional—addition to a well-rounded collection of resources regarding the same.
While Brown's focus on wrestling comes too much at the expense of other aspects of his subject's life for this to be considered a definitive account, it's a fun and informative read that fans of Kaufman, wrestling, and showbiz lore are sure to adore.
