Fans of Clare’s Go Hex Yourself will be happy with this follow-up in which Willem and Penny continue the enemies-to-lovers arc, with their own twist. Hand to readers who love witty banter, the fake-dating trope, and couples who fall hard fast.
Though fun, Clare’s novel won’t have enough conflict to keep some readers engaged; the reveal at the end demonstrates the low stakes. Recommend to those who prefer light paranormal fare that borders on chick lit.
Some may find the enemies-to-lovers transformation takes too long, but those who love the idea of winning over an irritable cowboy might appreciate Holly’s efforts to put Adam in his place. Readers looking for a cowboy fix should start with the earlier titles in the “Painted Barrel” series, particularly the Christmas-themed ones.
A geek girl gets her cowboy in Clare’s sixth installment of the “Wyoming Cowboys” series. Readers will have a lot of fun riding along with this adorable couple and their adopted dog.
Those who love their heroes quietly strong and more than capable will melt like warm marshmallows for cowboy Caleb. Series fans will be eager for the next installment (The Bachelor Cowboy, due out in Jan. 2021), which gives the story of mischievous younger brother, Jake Watson.
Reality TV's The Girls Next Store meets Knocked Up in Clare's (The Billionaire Takes a Bride) outlandish and sexy fourth series offering. Despite the preposterous setup, the romance here just works as these protagonists eventually find their HEA.
This character-driven and fast-paced novel from Clare (The Wrong Billionaire's Bed) features lots of hot, steamy sizzle. The protagonists are complete opposites, yet together they are very funny and engaging. Though part of a series, this title can be read on its own; a great summer read.
