As conceived by Jones (Lady Killer) and Fernando Blanco (Midnight and Apollo), Catwoman is sultry and morose; still reeling from her failed relationship with Batman, she’s more human than cat. Insight into her past helps flesh her character out and explains the motivation behind some of her actions. This arc is timely considering recent interest in female superheroes’ stories, and would be a good fit for any adult collection.

An engagingly bloody popcorn-muncher for Mad Men fans and friends, high school-aged and adult, with potential for deeper satire.

Comics aficionados may be entertained, but prose-inclined fans won't get much of a fix, and everybody will kvetch about getting fewer pages and less story than they should in one volume. Purchase with caution. The light innuendos make this teen-safe but likely less appealing to Evanovich's original audience.
