Focusing in depth on different members of the Casey family, Keyes’s writing is nuanced and delicate. She maintains humor while handling tough topics. Readers will feel part of the family and at home with the Caseys. Thoroughly absorbing and hard to let go, this novel is Keyes at her best..
A deeply charming work, despite its unevenness, this one is recommended for Keyes fans and readers who enjoy rags-to-riches stories; book groups will find a lot to discuss. [See Prepub Alert, 1/25/15.]
Well read by Caroline Lennon, this is recommended as an enjoyable summer listen. ["While Helen's voice, a mix of Stephanie Plum and Bridget Jones, is consistently amusing, the story line is dragged down by the slow pacing," read the review of the Viking hc, LJ 4/1/13.—Ed.]
As with Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones's Diary (1996), readers will root for the spirited Lucy in her humorous, occasionally heart-wrenching, and ultimately heartwarming adventures to find love.
While Helen's voice, a mix of Stephanie Plum and Bridget Jones, is consistently amusing, the storyline is dragged down by the slow pacing. [See Prepub Alert, 10/15/12.]
