Recommended for adult mystery fiction collections. ["The mystery aspect is the novel's weakest part. Red herrings abound, and the eventual resolution is disappointing, given the strong buildup…. Those looking for a family drama with an unusual setting would enjoy this book," read the review of the Gallery pb, LJ Xpress Reviews, 10/3/14.]
Littlefield has written several domestic thrillers (The Missing Place; Garden of Stones), and this one is another entertaining read in that genre. Fans who are looking for something not quite as dark as Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl or Paula Hawkins's The Girl on the Train will enjoy this book.

Littlefield (Garden of Stones; A Bad Day for Sorry) has written quite the page-turner that keeps readers guessing. How will the family survive? Did Ted set this up? Is it one of Sid's old pals coming to exact justice from Jen? Those who like thrillers with satisfying conclusions should find this an engaging read.
Recommended for fans of historical fiction. ["Although this book is a departure from Littlefield's regular fare, [her] fans are sure to devour this one," read the review of the Harlequin pb, LJ 12/12. See the Q&A with the narrator on page TK.—Ed.]
Mystery, fantasy, and young adult author Littlefield (A Bad Day for Sorry; Aftertime), turns her hand to historical fiction in this novel based on the true events in a Japanese American internment camp during World War II. A mystery and an unsolved murder at the heart of the novel add suspense to the moving story. Littlefield's fans and those who enjoy historical novels are sure to devour this one.
Fans of postapocalyptic fiction, including Stephen King's classic The Stand, should enjoy this title. Littlefield also writes acclaimed crime fiction (A Bad Day for Sorry), so this might tempt readers of those books who might not otherwise try sf.
