Margolin introduces so many players so quickly it's difficult to keep track of everyone. Short chapters made to keep the story moving only lead to more confusion. An interesting mystery, but a miss for Margolin. Purchase only where Margolin fans clamor for more. [See Prepub Alert, 9/10/18.]
Readers may find the complex plotlines and backstories in this uneven and boring novel confusing. Strictly for Margolin's fans. [See Prepub Alert, 9/11/17.]
With plenty of action and short chapters, this historical legal thriller is a quick read. Some of the conversation seems stilted and contrived, and certain plotlines are too easily and quickly tied up. Margolin's fans might be surprised by this one, which strays from his normal modern thrillers, but the lively narrative will keep readers engrossed. [See Prepub Alert, 8/26/13.]
Recommended to those who enjoy hearing from the criminal's viewpoint as well as that of the victim. [The Harper hc was a New York Times best seller.—Ed.]
