Miller (Shadow Survivors) delivers a fast-paced read in the second book of the “Protectors at K-9 Ranch” series. Characters from the previous novel make reappearances, but first-time readers can connect the dots and not feel like they are missing out on the storyline.
Miller writes another deliciously tantalizing “Kansas City Crime Lab” novel (following Decoding the Truth) that will keep readers up long into the night. Technically the third book in the series, this title can be read and enjoyed on its own and is an excellent choice for fans of Nora Roberts, Colleen Hoover, and Nicholas Sparks.
Tending towards the melodramatic and a little too much telling versus showing, the book is highly reminiscent of the CSI TV shows. Fans of mutual pining and crime TV would enjoy this.
A fast pace, an abundance of fascinating characters, and palpable sexual tension keep the action on target as Miller neatly ties up the Rose Red Rapist case in a riveting, carefully scripted finale. A solid choice for fans who like their thrillers with a holiday twist. Miller (Task Force Bride) lives in Grand Island, NE.
