Porter's (Take a Chance on Me) theme of the importance of family and community, combined with overcoming personal hurdles, makes this a heartwarming read.
The latest in Porter's "Love on Chance Avenue" series (Miracle on Chance Avenue) is her best yet. She does an excellent job of making Marietta itself a strong character, while adding humor, charm, and swoons to great effect. Mandy and Ty are engaging romantic foils, with Bette's meddling sweetness always there to stir the pot. This series continues to get better and better.
Though Ellie is at times unlikable and unevenly drawn, the romance is nicely done here and builds to an emotionally satisfying conclusion. Fans of Western romance will want to read this one.
Porter (A Christmas Miracle for Daisy) ends this series strongly with Jet and Shane's love affair. Readers will love this final installment of the Sheenan brothers series and be sorry to see it end.
Once more Porter is able to write about painful life situations with dignity, grace, and authenticity. What might be heavy and depressing in other writer's hands is gentle and cathartic in Porter's.
The exciting premise of a bride being enticed from the altar by a handsome man dressed in black is stalled later by Trey's and McKenna's interior monologs as they each try to decide what is best for themselves and TJ. The resolution is a bit too neat, considering the spectacle of the situation. And what happened to safe and loyal Lawrence?
Prolific modern lit and romance author Porter (Flirting with Forty; Take Me, Cowboy) unites with a band of romance authors to form Montana Born Books, an imprint of Tule, which features novellas that take place in the fictional town of Marietta, MT. This latest "Copper Mountain Christmas" offering (e.g., Katherine Garbera's A Cowboy for Christmas; Melissa McClone's Home for Christmas) is a feel-good shortie, perfect for the season, that provides a bit more grit than your stock holiday romance.
Porter (Mrs. Perfect) brings the drama and the heat in this short story about love, families, and cowboys. Jenny's character arc is interesting, as she evolves from a practical, almost cold woman into one with dreams for her future. Most important, this book will evoke numerous reactions from readers, as good reads tend to do.
