Libraries are finding new ways to use AI to improve their work. This webcast will highlight two projects from the Alma community that show how AI can help libraries manage their records more effectively.

Two institutions will share their specific projects:

  • University of Texas at Austin is using AI to automatically catalog and organize sound recordings, potentially saving significant time in processing archival materials.
  • University of Toronto developed AI scripts to extract and update serial item information in Alma, pulling precise details from unstructured descriptions.

The session will cover how these libraries are using AI to:

  • Make metadata more accurate
  • Save time on manual tasks
  • Create custom solutions tailored to specific challenges like:
    • Extracting data from unstructured text
    • Automating repetitive cataloging tasks
    • Improving the precision of library catalog entries
  • Keep the human expertise at the center of metadata management

Curious about real-world AI applications in libraries? Join us to learn directly from teams building custom solutions and putting these tools into practice!
