A Booze & Vinyl Christmas: Merry Music-and-Drink Pairings To Celebrate the Season

Darlington, an author of several themed cocktail books (including Booze & Vinyl, Vols. 1 and 2, and Booze Cruise), has written this festive and brightly illustrated work that pairs Christmas music with the appropriate libations. The focus is on music that is available in the vinyl format. The book is arranged in three chapters: Rock the Halls, Warm & Fuzzy, and Jazzy & Classical. Each chapter lists a particular artist or genre, such as Mariah Carey, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, “one-hit wonders,” and The Nutcracker. Each musical selection includes information about the album and liner notes, plus cocktail recipes for both the A side and the B side; for example, Darlington’s pairings for Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful Christmas are the Creole Beat and the Cool Yule. The book also gives general tips on making a great drink, setting up a holiday bar, and stocking the pantry, along with a list of tools and recipes for several simple syrups. Throughout the book there are additional recipes for cookies and sweets.
