A French Village (Un village Francais) 1942: Season 3

Season 3 of this French television series set during the Nazi occupation in the fictional village of Villeneuve continues the story of several locals and their attempts to cope. They print leaflets to encourage resistance, smuggle items through the black market, and help Jews to escape France. The series delicately brings anti-Semitism to the forefront when a train transporting Jewish families stops in Villeneuve, and they are put into the temporary custody of the townsfolk as they await another train. It is a sensitive subject, but the series realistically portrays the attitudes of the time. Throughout the 12 episodes, the relationships among the characters deepen in complexity; each scene is well acted and historically accurate. Extras include commentary on topics such as the roundup of Jews, the Resistance in 1942, and the fate of Jewish children.
