In May of this year, the first volume of this title edited by Ouellet, who became a cardinal in 2003, was published. What’s new about this release is that he offers 19 additional perspectives on what it means to be a Catholic priest. The contributors are from the spectrum of Christianity: Roman, Ukrainian, and Russian Catholic viewpoints that come from priests, nuns, and academics, each providing a specific perspective on the priesthood. Highlights include reflective pieces called “The ‘Marian Principle’ in the Church,” “Saint Augustine of Hippo on Priesthood,” “Toward John Chrysostom’s Image of the Priesthood,” “The Theology of the Episcopate,” and “The Spirit and the Bride: An Eastern Christian Approach to the Theology of the Priesthood.”
