A Place for Us: A Memoir

Wolf debuts with a memoir recounting his journey to becoming a queer rights and gun safety activist after surviving the 2016 Pulse Nightclub shooting. Wolf narrates his memoir with a level of raw sincerity that captivates. He shares his innermost thoughts, feelings, and traumas as he recalls his life story. Wolf’s journey began with a search for community. He grew up in rural Oregon, the son of a Black father and a white mother. He had no contact with his father but was close to his mother, who always made him feel safe and accepted. After her death, his feelings of isolation prompted his move to Orlando. There, he found a chosen family in Orlando’s queer community. Pulse was his safe space, but the shooting stole that from him. After the death of two close friends, Wolf describes his struggle to process his trauma and guilt. His recovery leads him to activism as well as to writing this title to honor his friends. His storytelling exudes his passion for his community and his fight for change.
