Good girl Erin Dawson takes a few days off from the world she knows in order to find her birth father. Marching into the Cursed Ravens clubhouse may not have been the smartest idea, but it certainly was a brave one. Catching the eye of the brutally hot, bad boy Ace Kendrick, Erin shows she will not back down until she meets her dad…who happens to be the motorcycle club president! Father and daughter had been kept from each other, so they are quick to make up for lost time. The growing attraction between Erin and Ace stems from a genuine desire for mutual understanding despite appearances to the contrary. Erin is bratty but cute in her determination…the search for her father allows her to find her truer self. Ace continues to teach Erin about loyalty and the Ravens. Fernando (
Approaching the Bench) makes good use of motorcycles as a metaphor for freedom, belonging, and maturity. She also incorporates light suspense, which solidifies some bonds while breaking others.
VERDICT The Cursed Ravens are all nice, protective guys, and this title is a fabulous choice for readers unsure of or hoping to discover the motorcycle club (MC) subgenre or "secret baby" tropes. A great start to Fernando's new series.
