It’s 2011, and New York has just legalized same-sex marriage. It is within this headline-making framework that Adam Stover, a 30-year-old architect, meets Yves Montjour, a French-Canadian professional cellist. Yves is playing a Chopin étude on an abandoned piano on a Greenwich Village sidewalk. By the time Adam helps Yves transport the piano to his apartment, they are smitten with each other. Yves, the younger of the two, is eager to help Adam come out of the closet to his family, his colleagues, and, most importantly, to himself. Irresistible complications begin when Adam introduces his “friend” to his family: parents who are evolving in their understanding of gay unions and two sisters whose own eccentric romantic escapades are soon on a collision course with those of Adam and Yves.
