Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match

Angelika Frankenstein is tired of waiting for love. If she can’t meet the perfect man, she’ll make one. With the help of her brilliant brother, Victor, Angelika builds what she hopes will be her ideal match. However, when she brings the creation to life, it awakens something entirely different. Though his body appears willing, his heart and head have reservations about becoming Angelika’s partner in passion. He teaches the self-centered Angelika kindness and compassion, inspiring her to help him solve the mystery of who he was before. Thorne (The Hating Game) has created a uniquely monstrous melodrama. Though this is a Regency romance, the language and atmosphere are not as immersive as one expects from the genre. The endlessly egocentric Angelika is difficult to connect with, but the relationships are engaging and the dialogue is amusing. Narrator Moira Quirk has a lovely lilt as Angelika and provides a broad range of additional voices, from monsters to ministers, yielding an entertaining listening experience.
