Amigurumi designer Espy (
Animal Amigurumi Adventures, Vol. 1), who has a huge following on Instagram, returns with the second volume of her amigurumi animals series. This book’s 15 patterns are divided into three sections: safari, arctic, and pets. Each section includes five different animals—elephant, lion, penguin, walrus, cat, chameleon, and many more—that fall under those categories. The majority of the patterns are for beginners, but more advanced crocheters will still find much to enjoy. American crochet terminology is used throughout, and stitches and techniques are presented with clear instructions and detailed step-by-step pictures. These images also help crafters execute one of the more difficult parts of amigurumi making: the placement of body parts.
VERDICT Crocheters of all skill levels will be able to produce cute creatures that any child (or adult) will beg to cuddle. Librarians should add all of this author’s books to their crochet collections.
