Raven Bella Hawthorne's artist father died in a car crash while running away with unhappily married Diane Pierce. Since then, Raven has vowed to get even with the woman's wealthy family, whose vicious attacks ruined her father's reputation and tore her world apart. Yet Raven's life wasn't the only one ruined. Dalton Pierce, the youngest of three brothers and a woodworker, still feels the pain of his mother's leaving, and it doesn't help that the death of his cruel, autocratic father has brought him back to Connecticut to run the family construction company with his siblings. One bright spot is Raven, the fascinating owner of the up-and-coming bar My Place, but he has no idea of their long-ago connection and that she's out for revenge.
VERDICT A hero struggling with abandonment issues and a heroine bent on vengeance find healing and love in an angsty story that is sure to keep the pages turning. Probst (Everywhere and Every Way) lives in upstate New York.
