The Avengers are facing enemies across the globe, all of whom have their sights set on world domination. The team is made up of the same heroes featured in the new film working together to find the puppet master pulling the strings of their greatest adversaries. This is a fun story, especially for young fans of the film, but this is not the best work of Abnett or this company. The action scenes that comprise most of the piece tend to get bogged down in heavy description and lack much of the humor and winking at the audience that the author has used to make his writing flow in such graphic novels as Avengers: Scarlet Witch and Guardians of the Galaxy. While some scenes do feel overlong, overall the piece moves quickly and fits together neatly. The numerous voice actors play their parts with a classic radio drama feel.
VERDICT An optional purchase that may be enjoyed by ardent fans of the comic or the film.
