DEBUT Five years after her college graduation and her father’s death, Andie has finally started her dream job as a senior book publicist in New York City. Unfortunately, her first task is managing a month-long European book tour for the famous author Jack Carlson—the very same man whom she used to date in college and who may have accidentally ruined her life just before graduation. Andie is not happy about spending four weeks on the road with someone she hasn’t talked to in years and planned never to see again, but she doesn’t want to lose this career-making opportunity. So she and Jack set out across Europe (including a stop in Edinburgh, where they both went to college), and Andie starts to see that there may be more to Jack than she originally thought when they were undergraduates. Some significant issues with the novel’s pace are balanced by strong dialogue and characterization.
VERDICT A slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers debut to suggest to fans of Katherine Center and Rebecca Serle.
