Douaihy’s second “Sister Holiday” mystery is a delightful follow-up to Scorched Grace, where listeners were first introduced to Sister Holiday Walsh, the tattooed, chain-smoking, profanity-loving, queer former rocker who is now making a new life for herself in the convent at St. Sebastian Parish. She was never a conventional nun, and she is less so now that she has her P.I. license and is working in the newly formed Redemption Detective Agency, alongside former fire inspector Magnolia Riveaux. The first case on their docket: one missing priest, and another whose corpse has been found floating in the Mississippi River. This delightfully irreverent sleuthing adventure is brilliantly narrated by actor Mara Wilson, the former child actor best known for her role in the 1996 film Matilda. Wilson offers a magnificent performance; her articulation and delivery as the inimitable Sister Holiday are unmatched.
