CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) is an amazing testament to the possibility of international cooperation. This vast enterprise—using the most cutting-edge technology, funded by a consortium of nations, and staffed by individuals from around the world—is dedicated to one end: the advancement of knowledge. The hope is that data collected from this huge particle accelerator will fill in the gaps in our understanding of the fundamental nature of the universe. The video consists of short interviews with representatives of various areas of expertise, interspersed with long, uncaptioned, and unexplained excursions around the facility. It would have been helpful to have more explanation of what we are seeing and what the workers are doing.
VERDICT An awe-inspiring program for those with previous knowledge of CERN, it will leave others hoping for more specifics.
