Lapp’s (Crochet Impkins) latest shows readers how to crochet customizable monsters. The book is best for intermediate and experienced crocheters, since its glossary of terms assumes a basic understanding of different types of stitches. (However, the book does include links to video crochet tutorials that can help beginners build their skills and confidence to tackle Lapp’s projects.) Each pattern is illustrated and lays out clear instructions for crafting monster bodies and modular monster parts—eyes, mouths, feet, tails, hair. Images of finished monsters are meshed with detailed descriptions of which body types and parts were used for the model image, making it possible for readers to customize their own creature or closely recreate the ones in the book.
