This is book 20 in the “Red Stone Security” series, after
Deadly Protector, but fortunately the books read as stand-alones. In this book, Teague is on hiatus from his black ops work and back from the dead as far as Lana is concerned. She’d mourned him and is furious that he lied to her, but she has bigger problems. A man she knows is responsible for her mother’s death is walking around free and with a family heirloom she’d do anything to get back. She sets a plan in motion to retrieve her item and make Cashe pay, and Teague lets her know, in no uncertain terms, that she will not be handling this alone. They work together well, in and out of bed, but Lana doesn’t know if she can trust the man whose almost entire existence is based on lies.
VERDICT The story feels fresh, even though it is deep in the series. It doesn’t come with the weight of obligation to read all of the previous books, but this story will make readers want to do so.
