Expert crocheter Nikipirowicz (design consultant, Rowan Yarns;
Crocheted Wreaths for the Home) tackles an unusual craft in her latest title: crocheting a textile and embellishing it with various embroidered motifs. It includes 10 projects, ranging from adorned bags and baskets to tapestries and hooped wall art. The book is published in Great Britain, so it uses UK crochet terminology, although U.S. conversions are listed. Moreover, the book is only for right-handed crocheters and needleworkers; left-handed crafters must know how to do their own conversions.
VERDICT While the crocheted instructions are adequate, and there are useful sections on blocking and finishing, the book contains several technical errors and omissions with the embroidered topstitching instructions. Only recommended for libraries where there is demand for the author’s books.
