The sequel to Jimmy the Stick finds Jimmy Quinn running his own speakeasy and, while not exactly living on the right side of the law, leading a fairly quiet life. That is, until a mysterious package with his name on it is unexpectedly delivered to his establishment. Suddenly, a host of unsavory characters and an old girlfriend want to talk to him, all claiming to be the owner of the package. Mayo nicely sets the tone for the story set in Prohibition-era Manhattan. Narrator Qarie Marshall helps bring to life the eccentric cast of crooked characters, especially Jimmy, who is tough but with a touch of vulnerability. Keeping track of how everyone is connected can be challenging, but listening to Jimmy's take on the mysterious turn of events makes for an enjoyable ride.
VERDICT Recommended for fans of mysteries set in the 1920s and 1930s.
