Lovely but lonely Faith explores the arcane world of the occult in her quest for excitement, developing a supernatural ability for influencing people into acting out her wishes. This path doesn’t seem to bear much fruit until she literally bumps into the beautiful Poppy, with whom a flirtation quickly explodes into outright waves of sexual ecstasy. Accidentally causing Poppy’s previous suitor’s death with her influence doesn’t diminish Faith’s impassioned ardor. Louis Thorne, Poppy’s world-renowned artist father, subsequently makes his own successful seduction of Faith. In a hedonistic whirlwind, Faith is whisked from her everyday existence as a new world of possibilities both economic and erotic open up. What Faith fails to realize, however, is that Poppy and Louis are not what they seem. Shapeshifting beings from a dark plane of existence, they begin killing off her friends one by one as Faith falls headlong for both. Can Faith wake up to the true nature of Poppy and Louis, or will she remain ensnared in their seductive trap for eternity?
VERDICT In this first collection in an ongoing series, Azzarello (Batman: Damned) and Llovet (Loud) turn in an unusually compelling, erotically charged horror romance that offers philosophic gems to enrich the lovely boudoir action.
