This second title in Rhone's "Boulder Bodyguards" series focuses on Amelia Westlake, who has been pressured into a marriage with an up-and-coming political power. Amelia's father is a Senator and so is her fiancé's father. When she discovers her fiancé is untrustworthy and considers her an unimportant part of his life, she gives back his ring and disappears. Bodyguard Daryl Raintree (introduced in
What the Lady Wants) is assigned to spirit her away from all of the relatives. He takes her to his folks' farm, where their close contact leads them into viewing each other with new eyes.
VERDICT Rhone continues to write characters about which readers care. The sex is hot, and the dialog is solid. Perhaps the extent to which the two sets of parents go might be a little far-fetched, but you will never look at politicians the same way again (or maybe you will). Highly recommended.
