Flirting with Disaster

Kumar’s (Say You’ll Be Mine) sophomore novel offers an entertaining twist on Sweet Home Alabama. After an ill-considered night in Las Vegas, Meena woke up to find that she has had a quickie wedding with her ex-boyfriend Nikhil. Their brief relationship previously fizzled after Meena left their Houston home to pursue a law degree in Washington, DC. Now a talented lawyer with political aspirations, Meena returns to Houston to seek a divorce from Nikhil so that she can move on with her current boyfriend. Unfortunately, she arrives just as a hurricane hits the area, and she and Nikhil are forced into close proximity as they weather the storm. Full of heart, this second-chance romance delivers all the feels and has a ton of emotional depth. Soneela Nankani narrates, providing an emotional and distinctive performance for both main characters.
