In this traditional romance novel, written in 1988, Diandra Casey and Gregory York, both fiercely competitive since childhood and loathe to spend time together, are vying for a new position at a fancy department store. When the man who will make the decision instructs them to spend a week closing up the family townhouse in Boston, they dread the job, but spending a week together may just get them to admit their true feelings for each other. A somewhat dated and formulaic story, with two characters who are immature and overly dramatic—not what today's readers are looking for. Narrator Coleen Marlo does a great job embodying the various characters.
VERDICT Appeal will be limited to those who either prefer older-style romance novels or who are very dedicated fans of Delinsky.
