In the Christian community of Entrada de la Luna, NM, which has existed for 400 years, the farmers do not raise pigs, the grocery store does not carry pork products or shellfish, and the women light candles every Friday night. The narrative goes back and forth between modern-day Entrada de la Luna and 15th-century Spain during the Inquisition, when Spanish Jews were tortured and forced to convert to Christianity, though some managed to escape to the New World. Luis Moreno's nuanced performance does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life.
