America has become supercharged politically since the 2016 election, with many people wanting to fight for their beliefs. This film is about a woman who has been doing that with tremendous success for the past 50 years. Starting with the civil rights movement, Heather Booth (b. 1945) has been organizing protests and marches, getting legislation passed, and teaching others to become effective activists. Through contemporary interview segments and archival footage, viewers learn what has inspired her, how she balanced her life as a mother with her passion for justice, and how she gets others to stand up and make their voices heard. Her most important contribution to social justice is likely her talent for organizing. "When I asked how to get organized, I was told two words. Heather Booth," U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren is quoted in the film.
VERDICT With the next cycle of elections upon us, this movie should get the juices flowing and motivate potential activists.
