In the first scene, Savich and Sherlock—FBI agents who met, fell in love, and got married earlier in the series—are involved in a shootout with two serial killers who have a possible demonic connection. The blood has barely dried when they must ride to the rescue of Savich's sister, who may or may not have tried to commit suicide. A multi-million-dollar art heist adds to the intrigue. Paul Costanzo and Renee Raudman use their acting chops to bring the characters to life. Raudman is particularly good as Mrs. Scroggins and other older characters, adding age to her voice without going over the line into humor. The use of both talents as narrator keeps the interest high with no confusion.
VERDICT Listeners who enjoy mysteries will get their money's worth out of this one.
