Twenty-two-year-old Bailey knows how to tend a bar and how to deal with inebriated patrons. What she can’t deal with is how her town treats her, just because of her last name, which identifies her as part of a family that many consider to be hillbillies. Then there’s the town prince, Beau, who has battle scars on the inside that far outweigh his outward ones. At least he has the right name, and everyone in town treats him well because of it. Beau and Bailey decide to team up together to prove each other wrong: he says that how you are treated is not determined by your family name, while she says it is. They announce their fake engagement, and the experiment begins. Despite their 10-year age difference, the two quickly find that they have much in common and can’t deny their attraction. Silver (
Reckless) writes playful banter between her novel’s main characters and spends time developing the supporting cast as well.
VERDICT Readers looking for a sweet story, yet hot romance, will want to quickly pull this one from the shelves.
