Day (The Last Little Secret) launches the “Eddington Heirs” series focusing on a prominent family from just outside Chicago. Cayden Barker and Avery Gray run into each other—literally—and then are thrust together again when Avery is tasked with planning a huge event for Cayden. The chemistry is immediate and off the charts, but business prevents them from acting on it. The slow burn of the early portion of the book increases the chemistry so readers will be cheering once they finally come together.
VERDICT While the convoluted backstory can be confusing and some readers might be put off by the secrets kept from both the characters and readers, Day does a good job establishing the setting and characters for future books.
