Cremer (Nightshade) and Levithan (Every Day) here team up to write a gripping tale that will appeal to fantasy and realistic-fiction fans alike. Chapters alternate between Stephen, a boy who was cursed before birth to be invisible, and Elizabeth, the assertive and guarded new neighbor in Stephen's New York City apartment building. A hallway encounter reveals that Stephen is invisible to everyone in the world—except Elizabeth. Romance and adventure ensue as the two desperately try to find a way to break the curse of Stephen's invisibility. Fans of the back-and-forth style of Will Grayson, Will Grayson, which Levithan cowrote with John Green, will appreciate the alternating viewpoints of Stephen and Elizabeth and the real teen issues addressed, such as bullying and homosexuality. The authors' exploration of the gamut of confusing adolescent emotions will draw in lovers of realistic teen fiction. Elizabeth's attitude and quick wit and Stephen's meek, laid-back personality are successfully portrayed by narrators Mandy Siegfried and MacLeod Andrews, respectively.
