Esposito may be better known as an actor than an author, but this is her second book after
Jennifer's Way: My Journey with Celiac Disease. After being diagnosed with celiac disease, Esposito became an advocate for those with the autoimmune disorder and opened Jennifer's Way Bakery in New York. The recipes featured in this latest book are free of gluten, eggs, dairy, corn, and refined sugar. However, some ingredients, such as teff and casava flour as well as seaweed gomasio, may be unfamiliar to readers. Chapters are organized by type of food: soups, vegetables, rice, salads, pasta, bread, cookies, and pies and cakes. Most recipes are vegetarian-based, although there are a few meals that contain chicken, pork, and beef.
VERDICT Recommended for public libraries seeking diet and health-related cookbooks.
