Joe Nuthin’s Guide to Life

Fisher’s (Faye, Faraway) second novel is a literary treasure about Joe-Nathan, a neurodivergent young man who is described as not having a mean bone in his body. Joe-Nathan’s mother is doing her best to teach him life skills so he can live on his own. She has secured employment for him at a grocery store and ensured that trustworthy people will look after him if something happens to her. And unfortunately, something does happen. Joe-Nathan is unexpectedly left to his own devices, but he discovers that his mother wrote him a guide to life that he can reference. Yet her wisdom cannot fix everything, as Joe-Nathan must navigate the cruel, abusive world and learn to trust his instincts. The audiobook is charmingly narrated by Alex Wingfield, a talented British actor and voiceover artist. Although his cadence is slow-paced, his phenomenal performance fully fleshes out Joe-Nathan’s heartwarming personality.
