Love You, Mean It

When her father died, Ellie Greco set aside her fashion-designer dreams to return home and run the family deli. Though slicing salami was never her goal, she loves the community connections and sense of purpose that come with it. Their legacy is in jeopardy, however, when megastore Mangia plans to move nearby. When she appeals to Theo Taylor, a high school acquaintance who works for the property management company courting Mangia, things literally come crashing down, leaving Theo with a head injury and Ellie with the split-second decision to fake an engagement so she can escort him to the hospital and hopefully convince him to spare her deli. Gagnon (Scenes of the Crime) presents a funny, fast-paced, fake-dating rom-com with a While You Were Sleeping vibe. Narrator Amanda Ronconi gives a playful performance of charming Ellie and several supporting characters, from older deli patrons to elitist snobs. Her presentation of the engaging enemies-to-lovers plot yields an entertaining listening experience.
