This new work is actually a compilation of two previous books,
Loaded Salads and
Bold Bowls, both originally published by CQ Products. It is a well done project, with an attractive table of contents, nicely formatted recipes, and good organization throughout. For breakfast there are traditional grain and oat bowls and also fruit smoothie bowls with attractive garnishes. Lunch and dinner include entrée salads with and without meat, pasta bowls, grain bowls, and rice bowls. Most are served with a homemade sauce or dressing. Vegan and vegetarian recipes are clearly labeled, and each dish is accompanied by a delicious close-up full-color photo. Recipes are written in a crisp, easy-to-follow style; due to the nature of the dishes, the focus is often more on chopping, assembling, and blending (for homemade dressings), versus actual cooking.
VERDICT This book contains a wide variety of flavors and combinations, full of relatively quick ideas for light meals throughout the week. Highly recommended for those who do not own the original editions.
